Hi, I'm Mel!

I'm a creative and strategic digital freelancer with a passion for maritime tourism and conservation. I specialise in helping businesses grow—whether that means developing a solid business plan, crafting a standout e-commerce website or creating marketing strategies.

​

Originally from Tilba Tilba on the south coast of NSW, I feel most at home at the Heart of the Great Barrier Reef. Now, as a new mother, I’m more inspired than ever to support businesses that are making a positive impact on our blue planet.

My career in Information Technology began with certifications in Business Administration, Small Business Management & Marketing and Web Development. As a Sole Trader I have directed a swimwear label and grown my business consultancy into a passionate career. I have gained recognition for being Innovative and Taking Initiative.

The collection of skills I posses have grown through my journey as an employee in reputable companies such as Taronga Conservation Society, Apple Inc., Reef Safaris and as the Secretary for the Nature Coast Marine Group.

Certified Tourism professional and Sole Trader since 2014.

Registered as a PADI Divemaster with ProDive Cairns since December 2019.

I have dived professionally on the Great Barrier Reef (Whitsundays) with Reef Safari for Cruise Whitsundays. As well as in Cairns and Narooma (Barunguba or Montague Island), NSW, for Underwater Safaris.

 

Since gaining a qualifications in Tourism with Animal Husbandry I have collectively gained 10 years working in maritime tourism and e-commerce.

I am highly motivated when it comes marine conservation and reporting positive results of my collaborations.

My morals are based around my beliefs that the planet health is of higher importance than my excessive needs for material possessions or convenience. This is why I chose to downsize my living and minimise my single use consumables. By living simply I am able to see the world, leaving minimal impact on my surrounds. Working in e-commerce is rewarding for me as it is a low impact role on the environment where I can encourage or assist other companies to become more sustainable.

I am a vintage caravan flipper! Since 2019 I have been restoring caravans. I often return to the South Coast of NSW to work on caravans. I find working on the road provides me with a balanced lifestyle where I am motivated to work and can make the most of my free time.  Currently on the road, returning to Airlie Beach in a restored 1970s, 10' York caravan with my infant son.
